The Governing Council of AWEPA on 3 October 2009, unanimously elected Hon. Minister Miet Smet as President on the retirement of founding President Dr. Jan Nico Scholten. Miet Smet’s appointment became effective 1 January 2010.
Nelson Mandela, recipient of the AWEPA Human Dignity Award, has been honored by the inauguration of the official Mandela Day, to be held annually on July 18th, his birthday.
