| AWEPA broadens legislative capacity-building programme in Southern Sudan |

On 25 August 2006, AWEPA signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly (SSLA) which launched a joint parliamentary capacity-building programme. Thanks to a grant from the European Commission, AWEPA can now broaden its programme in Southern Sudan to support the ten State Assemblies. The region of Southern Sudan spans ten decentralized states, each with a distinct government. AWEPA seeks to support and strengthen these institutions, since they operate with very basic capacity. |
