AWEPA Executive Committee Meeting, Brussels Print
On 29th February and 1st March the AWEPA Executive Committee held a meeting chaired by the Secretary General Pär Granstedt. A number of core issues were discussed including the important role of the Political Coordinators.  This role was first introduced to the organisation in 1995 when AWEPA broadened the focus of its work in Southern Africa to include Central Africa, and it was decided that political guidance was needed to manage the growing number of programmes. In early 2008, a sub-committee of the AWEPA Executive Committee reviewed the role of the Political Coordinators and presented their conclusions at the recent meeting, where a protocol on Political Coordinators was ratified.

The meeting also included discussions around and the approval of current and new Political Coordinators. The updated list can be seen here. It was also agreed that after every Executive Committee election, the list will be reviewed by the incoming Committee. At the next Executive Committee meeting, the newly created role of Political Advisor will be discussed and nominees approved.
