|
As of 16 September, an exhibition of photographs and stories by young people from African and Asian countries was on display at the Saeima building. This travelling exhibition features works by young people from eight poor and less-developed countries about health and global development-related issues such as poverty, HIV/AIDS, as well as about health problems of mothers and children. The aim of the exhibition is to inform parliamentarians about the vision of young people concerning the situation in their country and to show how Latvia's young people see their country in comparison with poor countries. The exhibition at the Saeima building was open until 23 September. Students from Teika and Iecava secondary schools took part in the opening ceremony of the exhibition. In paired photographs and stories, they have prepared their vision of the afore-mentioned problems in Latvia. Members of the Saeima, as well as Ingrīda Circene, chairperson of the Saeima group within the Association of European Parliamentarians for Africa, along with other members of this group, participated in the opening ceremony. The exhibition is one of the activities carried out within the framework of the European Union-funded project "Zoom in! Promoting Understanding in Latvia, Great Britain and the Netherlands by Uniting Young People in the North and the South". Previously, it could be viewed in London and the Hague, and in October it will be on display for visitors in the European Parliament in Strasbourg. |
