On Tuesday 26th August, the AWEPA Eminent Advisory Board convened. Chaired by Ms. Graça Machel, the Board reviewed AWEPA’s activities over the last period and looked ahead to the rest of 2008 into 2009. They also looked at the role of the Eminent Advisory Board and how to better institutionalise AWEPA’s relations with African Partners.
AWEPA has joined an online debate in preparation for the Round Table "Whose ownership? Whose leadership" at the upcoming 3rd High-Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness in Accra, Ghana, 2-4 September 2008.
Senior UK Parliamentarians across party lines, from both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, supported a tribute to Nelson Mandela in recognition of his inspiration and leadership.
Lord Chidgey stressed the importance of support for strengthening parliaments in Africa, and praised the 'crucial assistance' that AWEPA and other international organisations provide.
