The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, in a special sitting of its Committee on Economic and Social Affairs, held a Hearing in the Belgian Senate on Mobilising Parliamentarians for NEPAD.
On behalf of AWEPA, Dr. Jeff Balch, Director Research and Evaluation, gave testimony in support of the draft Memorandum. He stressed the importance of parliamentary oversight of Official Development Assistance (ODA), as a fundamental right and obligation, which will improve the targeting of ODA toward agreed NEPAD objectives and help guarantee aid effectiveness.
