Speech by AWEPA's President Dr. Scholten at the 8th Ordinary Session of the PAP Print
At the opening of the 8th Ordinary Session of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) the President of AWEPA addressed the achievements of the PAP over the past years.

Dr. Jan Nico Scholten quoted the murdered Swedish Prime Minister, Mr. Olov Palme, who said that "Politics is the will to act and to make the impossible possible" and he compared the possibilities for the Pan-African Parliament with the achievements of the European Union.

The message of solidarity, which was the theme of the PAP's Opening Session on Monday 15 October 2007, was brought forward not only by Dr. Scholten but also by the other speakers at the Session, including Hon. Dr. Gertrude Mongella, the President of the PAP and Dr. Soumana Sako, the Executive Secretary of the African Capacity Building Foundation. Dr. Inonge Mbikusita-Lewanika, the Zambian Ambassador to the USA, also spoke in the Session, where she declared her interest in the position of Chairperson of the African Union Commission.
