The AWEPA Section in the Lithuanian parliament was established in 2000. In the parliamentary term 2008-2012, the Section comprised 16 parliamentarians representing a wide spectrum of political groups, including Conservatives, Liberals and Social Democrats. Head of Section
Hon. Egidijus Vareikis
AWEPA’s Head of Section for Lithuania is Hon. Vareikis, an MP and representative of the Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats, the largest conservative group in the Parliament. The Deputy Head of Section is Hon. Danute Bekintiene. The Lithuanian Section aims to coordinate activities that take shape around the African policies of Lithuania, working alongside African parliamentarians and civil society.
