Madrid, Spain – On 25 May 2015, Mr. Josep Maldonado, Head of the Spanish AWEPA Section released a statement in recognition of Africa Day 2016.

Through this statement, Mr. Maldonado urges members of his Section to use Africa Day as “a time for reflection, a time to raise our voices and condemn the injustice that exists across the world and also in the African continent.”

Indeed, the statement serves as a call for international cooperation and dialogue to alleviate suffering as a result of poor distribution of wealth, conflict, marginalisation and violations of human rights. As Mr. Maldonado asserts, we must foster “dialogue between all continents, all cultures, all religions and, ultimately, between all men and women across the world.”

Lastly, Mr. Maldonado renews “AWEPA Spain’s public commitment, along with African countries, to build an Africa where people can live with more dignity” and, in short, to help “build a better Africa”.
