Rome, Italy – AWEPA supported a ceremony in the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation entitled “Africa and us: Common challenges and prospects based on data from the African Economic Outlook 2016”.
The event, which also received support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Italian geopolitical magazine Limes, the OECD, FCA and CNH Industrial, provided an opportunity to present the findings of the 2016 edition of the OECD’s African Economic Outlook, a report which takes stock of economic and social development across the African continent.
Hon. Lia Quartapelle, Head of AWEPA’s Italian Section, introduced the report alongside Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Mario Giro.
The African Economic Outlook 2016 report was then presented by Hon. Mario Pezzini, Director of the OECD Development Centre, and discussed with institutional representatives with a particular interest in African affairs, including the Ambassadors of Guinea, Mozambique, Tunisia, Uganda and representatives of FCA and CNH International.
Moderated by Limes Director Mr. Lucio Caracciolo, the conference was wound up by Hon. Elisabetta Belloni, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The event provides an opportunity to contemplate the importance of Africa for Italian foreign policy, and to consider possibilities for future cooperation to promote sustainable economic and social development on the continent.
