Parliamentarians from around the world presented initiatives for the eradication of discrimination and xenophobia. Speeches were given by UN representatives, and members of the National Assembly of Ecuador, the Legislative Assembly of Costa Rica and the Spanish Senate, including Hon. Iñaqui Anasagasti, member of the Spanish AWEPA Section.
The Forum was organised as part of the World Conference AFROMADRID 2015, an event which ran from 15 to 19 June, and received support from Hon. Josep Maldonado, Head of the Spanish AWEPA Section. Hon. Maldonado presented the topic of “Racial violence in sport” on 16 June, as well as speaking at the closing ceremony of the conference.
In line with the International Decade for people of African Descent (2015-24), the high-level AFROMADRID Conference is held each year to promote justice, development and recognition for people of African descent, fight racial discrimination, fight for equality, and drive multiculturalism though value-based education and human rights legislation.
