Benin – Following the 2015 legislative election held on 28 April 2015, 83 new Members of Parliament have been elected to the National Assembly of Benin.

Taking into account the high turnover (less than 30% of MPs retained their seats), AWEPA will organise a two-day induction training session for the entire Assembly, in the framework of its joint programme with the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD).

The key objectives will be to provide MPs with the knowledge required to settle into and function optimally in the legislature, understand its processes and business, carry out their representative function and perform work in Committees efficiently and effectively.

Additionally, the Members will be introduced to the internal rules and regulations of the National Assembly as well as the parliamentary administration. The audience will benefit from the experience of former Beninese MPs, European MPs and governance experts.
