Developing the strategic vision for AWEPA Mozambique

Maputo, Mozambique – Deputy Director Bilateral Relations, Maaike Kempkes, along with former Political Coordinator, Dr. Jan Nico Scholten, and current Political Coordinator, Hon. Bodil Ceballos, made a coordinated trip to Maputo 28 October -2 November. The main purpose of the visit was to get to know the AWEPA team and programmes in Mozambique.
The process of elaborating a Strategic Vision begun in 2011; thus far, interviews with key stakeholders have taken place and a working group has been established. Reflection on the next steps and on the content occurred between members of the working group in various constellations.
As per the (Draft) Statutes, the mission of AWEPA Mozambique reads : “AWEPA Mozambique aims to promote and support efforts geared at the realisation of human rights, democracy, the combating of poverty and to promote sustainable development in Mozambique by supporting the capacity development at all levels of parliamentary democracy in Mozambique (National, Provincial, Local and Political Parties)”.
