Brussels, Belgium – Members of AWEPA staff attended the 2016 European Development Days (EDD), held in Brussels, Belgium on 15-16 June 2016.
Organised by the European Commission, the EDD bring the development community together each year to share ideas and experiences in ways that inspire new partnerships and innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.
The EDD 2016 focused on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, giving participants the opportunity to come together to discuss their collective contribution to eradicating poverty and shifting our planet onto a sustainable, inclusive, peaceful and prosperous path.
As part of its involvement in the event, AWEPA was able to reach out to other participants at an information stand set up by the European Partnership for Democracy (EPD), an umbrella group of organisations which work together in the realm of democracy support. As part of this network, AWEPA presented its programme in Benin, which is implemented alongside the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) to bridge the gap between political parties and parliament.
AWEPA’s participations in the tenth edition of the EDD provided a valuable opportunity for dialogue, exchange and learning about the challenges the world is facing and how best to work towards meaningful solutions to ensure human rights, sustainable development and dignity for all.
