We are the first generation which can end extreme poverty in our lifetime. But we cannot get there without parliamentarians.- Dr. Jim Yong Kim

Harare, Zimbabwe – Members of the Parliament of Zimbabwe participated in a two-day seminar on 12-13 March 2014. The event was organised by AWEPA in the framework of its capacity building programme with Members and staff of the Parliament of Zimbabwe. The seminar was aimed at raising awareness on the new socio-economic blueprint for Zimbabwe, the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-economic Transformation (Zim-Asset).

The main objective of the seminar was to inform stakeholders, mainly parliamentarians, and to discuss the implementation strategy of the Zim-Asset. The activity, which was enriched with presentations from various international diplomatic delegations and businesses, echoed the central role of Parliament in ensuring socio-economic stability and prosperity.

Furthermore, the event showcased the abilities of the present Parliament of Zimbabwe to properly debate and critique not only the presenters but also their fellow members within the ruling party. This was a very encouraging sign to all that there is an increased level of transparency within the Parliament.
