Namibia: An exciting possibility for future collaboration

AWEPA Newsletter

Amsterdam, the Netherlands – On Friday 23 September 2016, AWEPA Programme Manager Ms. Ingrid Maria Johansen and Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Theo Kralt met with the Namibian Ambassador to Belgium, the Netherlands, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Mission to the European Union, H.E. Dr. Kaire Mbuende, in AWEPA’s Head Office in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Top of the agenda for the meeting was the potential for fruitful cooperation between AWEPA and the Parliament of Namibia. Indeed, H.E. Dr. Mbuende urged AWEPA to set up a new programme in Nambia to provide institutional support and capacity building to members of the Parliament and staff.

As longstanding partners AWEPA and Namibia enjoy a historical relationship, dating back to AWEPA’s early days as an association of parliamentarians committed to fighting against the Apartheid and supporting sanctions on South Africa’s occupation of Namibia.
