Kigali, Rwanda – The Parliament of Rwanda and AWEPA jointly organised a one-day information seminar directed at new parliamentarians, whose election took place in September 2013. The goal of this seminar is to provide a space and time for knowledge exchange about the functioning of parliaments worldwide and in particular European parliaments. The Belgian parliament was examined as a case-study. Furthermore, the seminar informed newly elected parliamentarians about AWEPA and its functioning.
This seminar is part of the AWEPA-Parliament of Rwanda cooperation programme, active since 2003. The two-fold aim of the cooperation between the two entities is, on the one hand, to strengthen the capacities of the Parliament, and on the other hand to implement parliamentary diplomacy strategies that can contribute to foster peace and security in the Great Lakes region.
