Parliamentarians mobilising to end FGMC in Senegal 6

Saly, 15-19 March 2013. Senegalese MPs met in Saly (Senegal) in a workshop on the role of parliamentarians in the abandonment of female genital mutilation / cutting (FGM/C). The workshop, opened by Vice-President of the Senegalese National Assembly Assine Aimé, brought together the Senegalese Parliament, including members of the Commission on Health, Population, Social Affairs and National Solidarity, representatives of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Ministry of Women, Children and Female Entrepreneurship and the Ministry of Justice, as well as experts. The debates were enhanced by the participation of a delegation of the Parliament of Mali and Belgian AWEPA members Senator Els van Hoof and former MP Magda de Meyer.
