Washington, D.C., USA – Members of the Swedish Foreign Policy Committee, including AWEPA’s head of Swedish section Hon. Kerstin Lundgren, political coordinator for Mozambique Hon. Bodil Ceballos and Governing Council Member Carina Hägg, visited the World Bank for a briefing on the inclusion of the gender perspective in the Bank’s work.
The committee members met with Director for Gender and Development Jeni Klugman to discuss the implementation of the 2012 World Development Report on Gender Equality and Development, and the Bank’s methods to monitor gender results.

The visit reiterates the Swedish Parliament’s commitment to gender issues, and specifically their contribution to AWEPA’s gender related development activities with African Parliamentarians. Hon. Ceballos in an email communication with AWEPA said, “gender is always top on the agenda for the Swedish parliament”.
