The parliaments which AWEPA supports are its primary partners and this cooperation is normally laid down in a Memorandum of Understanding. In the implementation of its programmes AWEPA also works together with a variety of other organisations to increase the impact of the programmes. AWEPA has been fortunate to work in close cooperation with leading partners in Africa on its programme development and implementation. Expertise of African partners and experts from UN agencies and civil society give inputs into AWEPA capacity building programmes. Specific Steering Committees are established in some programmes, with African representatives relevant to the respective AWEPA programmes. These various committee members have regular contact (at least once a year) to be informed about and to comment on programme developments. Other partners are also regularly invited where appropriate, to contribute to and participate in the programme. Programme committees and other partners have had an important role in the shaping of the NEPAD programme proposal and will cooperate on the activity level in the future. AWEPA's work policy is therefore highly influenced by and developed with vital partners and the positive results so far have convinced AWEPA to continue with this model. |
