AWEPA Research Print

In an effort to deepen the level of analysis of AWEPA’s research and to maximise exchange of existing expertise, AWEPA has engaged in a new form of partnership. The objective is to develop a broader model of research cooperation as pilot project that will eventually impact other AWEPA projects.

Currently AWEPA is engaged in the following research projects:

ODA Monitoring

The ODA Monitoring project provides a useful resource for both European and African parliamentarians to monitor how good European countries are at keeping their international development promises with regard to Official Development Assistance (ODA).

In addition, AWEPA is involved in a pilot project with the NEPAD Contact Group of African Parliamentarians (NCGAP), to provide detailed information to African parliamentarians about the ODA that has been distributed to their governments, in order to assist the monitoring and oversight process.

The Role of Parliaments in Conflict Management and Peacebuilding (PPA)

The PPA research reviews relevant African experiences and sets out recommendations for African policy-makers and guidelines for international assistance.

AWEPA’s new approach has been to regularly inform partners (research institutes as well as a unique combination of African political leaders and Civil Society Organisations) about developments within the research project and to systematically share final draft research documents with them (approx. 15-20 partners) for feedback.
