Regional Seminar to Prepare CPDM Candidates for Provincial and General Elections on 28 October 2009, Beira, Mozambique 21-22 May 2009 On 21-22 May a regional seminar took place in Beira, Central Region, for the candidates of the Centre for the Promotion of Multiparty Democracy (CPDM). CPDM is an association of small parties in Mozambique. Participants refreshed their knowledge about electoral legislation and were trained in drawing up a solid electoral campaign strategy for the upcoming Provincial and General Elections, which will take place on 28 October 2009. Approximately 70 members of small political parties from the three Central Provinces (Tete, Manica and Sofala) attended the seminar to discuss how to strengthen the performance of their parties. CPDM’s aim was to be well-prepared for the elections in order to win seats in the Provincial and National Assemblies. Currently none of these small parties have any representation in the National Assembly.
