Councillor outreach visit: Protecting natural resources in South Sudan

In the framework of AWEPA’s programme “South Sudan National Legislative Assembly (SSNLA) and Local Councils“, councillors of the Lainya County, in conjunction with AWEPA, organised an outreach visit to Wuji Payam to interact with the local grassroots community. The discussions placed a special emphasis on the protection of natural resources and the public revenues generated. Key issues identified included a lack of transparency and accountability in revenue collection processes, which affects development and service delivery in the county as a whole. The councillors made recommendations and, alongside the community members, agreed on ways forward regarding all issues raised.
