The Hague, The Netherlands – AWEPA in consortium with the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) took part in a kick-off meeting, organized by the Dutch Ministry for Foreign Affairs for all its selected organisations to provide the framework for shaping the Strategic Partnership, on 12 March 2015.
The NIMD and AWEPA alliance was selected by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a strategic partner for the years 2016-2020. The kick-off meeting aimed to collectively start building Strategic Partnerships with a first introduction, context setting, agenda setting and clarity about expectations and practical building blocks for common agreements for the development of the partnerships.
The Dutch Foreign Trade and Development Minister Ms. Lilianne Ploumen opened the acquaintance sessions and spoke about the new ground of these Strategic Partnerships, which also the Ministry has not explored before and could potentially serve as a model for other donor countries.
The NIMD-AWEPA partnership focuses on capacity building and strengthening civil society organizations in low- and middle- income countries, as well as political parties and participants by NIMD, and parliaments and parliamentarians by AWEPA.
