Ouidah, Benin – Following the first Political Training session held in February 2015, the same group of participants was invited to join a second political training, which took place from 2-5 September in Ouidah.
The young representatives from various political parties and civil society organisations had the opportunity to increase their knowledge on various topics, including the legal framework for political parties in Benin, political parties’ internal democracy, and the required qualities for a good election candidate. The participants had the chance to debate, carry out group work and role-playing activities.
The training was conducted by Mr. Augustin Cissé, senior consultant, and Mr. Mathias Hounkpé, political governance expert at the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA). It was organised in collaboration with the National Assembly of Benin, in the framework of the joint AWEPA / NIMD programme which aims to strengthen the capacities of the National Assembly and political parties in Benin.
